Today’s Spotlight Article is a special one. Soon, a new Pizza Press will be opening in Anaheim in the former Charter House Hotel! In honor of this, a we are featuring a Spotlight article on the rich history of the Charter House Hotel. We’re excited, and we hope after reading this article you are too!

The Charter House hotel first opened in the 1950s. The Charter House was convenient for its location to Disneyland- it was literally right across the street. The rooms at The Charter House were usually a couple dollars a night cheaper than at the Disneyland Hotel. For back then, that’s a lot of money!

The Charter House had an olympic-sized pool and sold summer pool memberships to the locals. Their available days and times were far more flexible than those at the nearby Plunge pool. Plus, when you swam at night the you had a great view of the Disneyland fireworks as they exploded overhead.

In their own words, “[The Charter House was] convenient to all the thrills and excitement of Disneyland – enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of Charter House…swimming pool and cabanas, children’s play area…specialty dining rooms, completely air conditioned. Worth the trip in itself!”

What has the Charter House become today? The same facility now goes by the name “The Anaheim Plaza Hotel”. On nine acres of landscaped gardens, The Anaheim Plaza Hotel has 303 rooms, 6,800 square feet of flexible meeting space, an on-site restaurant and banquet capabilities. and It also still has an Olympic-sized pool (plus a Jacuzzi, now!)

The Front Room Lounge is fine food, craft beer, and unique cocktails with a fun ambiance. It’s located right in the lobby of the Anaheim Plaza Hotel and has a full bar, signature cocktails, and an extensive menu of gourmet cuisine.

The Front Room Lounge is open from 10am-4pm every day during construction and will be open longer hours once the Hotel’s renovations are complete! Come stop for a drink and some delicious food while you’re checking out the future home of The Pizza Press Anaheim!
